Plumbers (DDRHL)

Job Overview

The plumber will be responsible for installing, testing, and commissioning all plumbing and water-related systems within a new-build nursery. The role requires high attention to safety, hygiene, and compliance with building regulations, given the childcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install first and second fix plumbing systems in accordance with drawings and specifications
• Install hot and cold water systems, soil and waste pipes, and rainwater systems
• Fit sanitaryware suitable for a nursery environment (toilets, basins, sinks, baby-change units, etc.)
• Install water heaters, pipework insulation, and associated valves and controls
• Ensure systems meet hygiene, temperature control, and anti-scald requirements (e.g. TMVs)
• Pressure test and commission plumbing systems
• Liaise with site managers, other trades, and inspectors to ensure smooth progress
• Work to project timelines and coordinate work with other building activities
• Maintain a clean, safe, and child-safe working environment
• Follow all health & safety procedures, including safeguarding considerations on a nursery site

Requirements / Skills

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
• Proven experience on new-build or commercial projects (education settings preferred)
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Water Regulations
• Experience installing TMVs and systems suitable for childcare settings
• Ability to read and work from technical drawings and specifications
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Blue JIB card
• Enhanced DBS check may be required (depending on site stage)
