Key Responsibilities
Installation of containment systems (tray, trunking, conduit, basket)
Installation and termination of SWA and twin & earth cabling
1st and 2nd fix electrical installations
Consumer unit and distribution board installation
Fault finding and diagnostics
Testing and inspection (where qualified)
Emergency lighting and fire alarm wiring
Working to current wiring regulations (BS 7671)
Completing relevant documentation and test certificates
Liaising with site managers, prison staff, and other trades
Ensuring compliance with all site security and health & safety procedures
Essential Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
AM2 qualification
City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) - preferred
ECS Gold Card (Approved Electrician)
Proven experience in commercial/industrial environments
Ability to work in high-security settings
EL1 Security Clearance (or willingness to undergo clearance)
Clean criminal record (required for clearance)
Strong understanding of safe isolation procedures
About EL1 Clearance
EL1 (Enhanced Level 1) clearance is required for working within secure government or custodial environments.
To carry out electrical testing, fault finding, and remedial works in occupied and void social housing properties, ensuring installations comply with current electrical safety regulations.
